WorshipCongregation

We meet for Sunday worship at 11:00 AM (10:00 AM in summer). Our Order of Worship generally follows the Reformed tradition, yet our worship service is fresh with light and life. Our weekly Scripture texts are primarily drawn from the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of Bible passages. Our pastoral team generally leads us in worship and delivers a sermon based on Scriptural text. Several times a year, we welcome a guest minister to the pulpit.

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. In addition to Sunday worship, we gather on Maundy Thursday for a traditional Tenebrae service commemorating the Last Supper and on Christmas Eve for a candle-light service in anticipation of the Lord's birth. A highlight of the spring season at Northwest Presbyterian is Youth Sunday, a special Worship Service planned by and utilizing the gifts of our Youth. The first Sunday in February is Scout Sunday, distinguished by the participation of our sponsored Boy Scout Troop 232 and Cub Scout Pack 232.

Music
Music is an important part of worship at Northwest Presbyterian. Our Director of Music, Drew McMillan, leads the congregation in song and directs our Chancel Choir. Leanne Herrmann is our organist. Periodically, the Children's Choir lifts our hearts with joyous songs of praise.

Additionally, we are in a cooperative arrangement with the Buckhead Youth Orchestra, whereby the orchestra utilizes our facilities for rehearsals and concerts, and on occasion, joins our own musicians in providing worship music.

For Children
Childcare (newborn to age 3) is provided by our professional care-giving staff. Preschoolers (ages 4-5) and early elementary youngsters (grades 1-2) join us in Worship for 15-20 minutes. Following "Moments with the Children," children in this age group are dismissed and invited to participate in their own special time in the Young Children and Worship Program in the Children's Worship Center located in the Family Life Center. This program familiarizes young children with the beauty, wonder, and purpose of the "grown-up" worship service, preparing them for full participation in the years ahead.
