Congregational Life
The First Letter of John tells us that "...if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another..." (1:7). Northwest is not a "mega church" in terms of numbers, but we are mighty in the fellowship and care we extend to one another.
Congregational Care
Northwest members are there for one another in times of joy and sorrow. Our specially designated Prayer Line (404.237.6615) is available 24/7. Prayer concerns also are listed in the weekly bulletin.
Our Session's Congregational Care Team supports our pastoral staff. We care for one another with cards, visits, and telephone calls to our shut-ins as well as our sick and hospitalized members. Meals and helping hands are readily provided for those experiencing a new baby, illness, or death in the family. Our Congregational Care Team also provides the necessary volunteers for funeral services, funeral receptions and other needs.
We work at getting to know one another and keeping the lines of communication open. "Under the Fig Tree" is a unique program wherein each month we discover more about the life and spiritual journey of a Northwest member. Our monthly newsletter, Northwest Passages, is delivered by email or regular mail and is posted on this web site. A pictorial directory is published periodically and updated regularly.
For our senior adults, we offer Senior Adult Lunches at least twice a year, and our Travelers' Trips provide terrific experiences for seniors and others who want to enjoy a day's journey together. Our college students receive "care packages" to help them through exam week, and our graduating high school and college seniors are recognized at the end of the school year. Held twice a year in a member's home, our New Member Dinners introduce newcomers to the warmth and fellowship of Northwest Church.
